adaptshape - Robotic CNC Milling

Large-scale processing made affordable! On modern and cost-efficient production lines, CAD/CAM systems, CNC-controlled production and robot-based automation are already part of everyday routines. However, even more complex tasks such as milling, grinding and polishing of 3D parts can be performed in a cost-effective manner with today’s industrial robots. Our CAD/CAM solution makes it easy to convert CAD data into control programs for robots. The adaptshape systems impress with their great flexibility, ability to perform fast product changeovers and short setup times, offline programming and simulation of the workflow and the possibility of clock time determination prior to starting actual production.

The KUKA industrial robots used can be mounted on either the floor or the ceiling, and  the processing space can be extended almost indefinitely, via combination with linear axes. With at least 6 degrees of freedom, even difficult positions can be reached with robots, making the total cost of a CNC robot significantly lower than the cost of a comparable CNC center. Furthermore,  setup times in the production sequence can be shortened, since related operations such as milling, trimming or lamination can be performed by the robot. Specifically, the possible fields of use of the adaptshape systems include: prototype construction, lightweight forms (smaller quantities) and processing of form materials or easily machinable aluminium, as well as trimming and related processing.
